the younger generation is rejecting home ownership due to costs and lifestyle concerns
in 2024, the median age of the first-time home buyer reached a record high of 38, the oldest age dating back to 1981. meanwhile, the share of first-time buyers (of all ages) has plummeted to a historic low of 24%, well below the historical average of 38%.
the upcoming generation seeks a flexible lifestyle that does not align with homeownership.

how can we improve communal eating in small spaces?
prototype, prototype, prototype
to understand the right proportion and ergonomics, trial and error was essential.
all my design decisions were based on testing my prototypes -
does eating from this shape make sense? is holding this form comfortable?
what is the look and feel of this product?
arriving at a simple, curved form through prototyping, I found bamboo composite to be a sustainable option for dining ware -readably available resource that could be molded to the design.
